Orthodontic technology has come a long way since the days of bulky bands and brackets, goopy impressions and embarrassing appliances (remember headgear?!). From the types of braces to the imaging used in the office, there are so many more options for your orthodontic care. It is important to Dr. Vermette that we stay up-to-date with changes in the field in order to make treatment more comfortable and efficient!
Here are some of the top advances in orthodontic technology that you can find here at our Concord, New Hampshire office:
- Digital X-rays: This is both a benefit for patients and the orthodontist! Thanks to the immediate access to the images, Dr. Vermette has the time to review your panoramic radiograph with you in detail at your initial complimentary consultation. One of, if not the greatest benefits of digital x-rays is that there is less radiation exposure for the patient. The model used at Vermette Orthodontics, produces an exposure that is the equivalant to a 100 yard walk in the sun!
- Itero Scanner for Digital Impressions: Gag reflex? No problem! Dr. Vermette invested in an Itero scanner a few years ago in order to make the process easier and more comfortable for his patients. In under 5 minutes we can scan a patient’s mouth and create a 3D digital set of models of their teeth. We can then use these models to have appliances made like retainers, expanders, and space maintainers. The Itero is also used to scan for Invisalign aligners.
- Invisalign Aligners: Invisalign has changed the face of orthodontic care. When metal braces were your only option, you were forced to deal with a mouth full of metal and wires. For our teen and adult patients, how they look during treatment is no longer a concern. Unlike the traditional stainless-steel brackets, Invisalign aligners are practically invisible inside your mouth. When comfort and appearance are a concern, Dr. Vermette will gladly recommend Invisalign as a treatment option.
- No more headgear: for decades, the gold standard for fixing an overbite was the dreaded headgear appliance! Bulky, uncomfortable and embarrassing for some to wear, orthodontists like Dr. Vermette have looked for and found ways to eliminate this type of appliance. Here at Vermette Orthodontics we have been using something that attaches to your braces, inside your mouth where no one can see them, called Forsus springs. These springs can fix overbites faster than headgear and are much more comfortable to wear!
Our number one priority here at Vermette Orthodontics is patient experience. We want you to leave here not only with a beautiful, healthy smile and bite, but with the feeling that you were given the best possible treatment and care available! Give the office a call to schedule a complimentary consultation to find out what we can do to help you on your journey to the smile you’ve always wanted!
